Azarel Setnet Site, Salamatof beach, Alaska - Cook Inlet
Our family's setnet site on Salamatof Beach. The fireweed and tall grass in the foreground really frame the shoreline this time of year. You can see the skiff and setnetting equipment resting on the sand, waiting for the next tide to bring in the salmon.
Salamatof is such a unique spot on the Kenai Peninsula. Itβs a place where you really see the intersection of Alaska's fishing industry and its natural beauty. Looking out over the calm, silty waters of the Cook Inlet toward the distant, cloud-covered mountains is one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon. This video captures that classic summer scene where the gear is ready.
