I spent some time watching one of the most vibrant sunsets I’ve seen all winter. This view across the Cook Inlet captures exactly what I mean when I talk about the “Ice & Fire” of Alaska. The deep orange glow of the sun as it touches the jagged peaks of the Chigmit and Aleutian mountains creates such a powerful contrast against the cold ice flows drifting in the inlet.
Standing here on the Kenai Peninsula, you really feel the transition of the seasons. Even though there’s still plenty of ice on the water, that warm evening light makes the landscape feel a bit closer to spring. I love how the sun seems to sit perfectly between the mountains for a few moments, turning the entire horizon into a brilliant, fiery display.
