Steamy Moose | Cold air. Warm breath. Wild Alaska.
A peaceful winter morning at the house in the Alaskan woods, where I came across a moose browsing among the evergreens in our yard. The air was crisp and cold, which made the moose's warm breath visible as thick steam with every exhale. It’s these quiet, close-up encounters that really highlight the resilience of the wildlife living in the far north.
The moose was calmly navigating through the deep snow, focused on finding its next meal. The way the low winter sun hits the fur and the snow-dusted branches creates a beautiful, golden atmosphere that is so characteristic of an Alaskan winter. From this distance, you can see the detail in the moose’s coat and the gentle movements as it feeds. For me, observing these animals in their natural habitat is a reminder of the raw and untamed beauty that surrounds us here. It’s a simple yet powerful scene that captures the essence of life in the wilderness during the coldest months of the year.
