Venus flashes into view right as the focus clears on Mount Redoubt
I captured this short clip while waiting for the light to fade over the Cook Inlet. The video starts out of focus, but as it sharpens, you can see Mount Redoubt standing tall against a brilliant orange and blue horizon. The best part for me is that split second where Venus suddenly flashes into view, shining like a beacon right above the volcano.
The inlet is currently packed with shifting ice, which adds such a cool texture to the water as it reflects the colors of the sky. Mount Redoubt is one of the most iconic peaks on our western horizon, and seeing it paired with a clear view of Venus is awesome,
