Sipping coffee in Alaska’s fog like this is pure therapy

A quiet, foggy morning in Kachemak Bay is the perfect setting for a quick mental reset. Join me for a cup of coffee as I take in the misty Alaskan views and the blooming fireweed along the coast.

There’s something incredibly calming about a thick fog rolling over Kachemak Bay. I captured this moment from the Porter’s AK Adventure Cabin #3 deck, where the world felt quiet and still. With a hot cup of coffee in hand, the misty air and the bright pops of fireweed made for the perfect morning to just breathe and reset.

The bay often wears this blanket of gray, especially in the summer months when the temperature shifts. Looking out toward the water, you can barely see the outlines of the islands through the mist, creating a sense of isolation and peace. For me, these mornings are about finding clarity. The “Reset, Restart, Refocus” reminder is something I try to carry with me as the seasons change here in Alaska. Whether you’re in Homer or elsewhere along the coast, there’s no better way to start the day than by embracing the slow, foggy beauty of the North.
