I launched alaskanomad.com on January 1, 2026—but the story starts earlier. I first posted a video on YouTube under Alaska Nomad on January 28, 2024. For years, I’ve spoken weekly to people in person and on livestreams from a wide-angle stage perspective, yet talking directly to a camera froze me. Then, I decided to just start. To work through the nerves, I began sharing quiet moments: sunset timelapses and simple Alaska scenes—without my voice or face.

This began quietly: no voice, no face: just showing up and letting the light speak.

I never overcame speaking to the camera until I experienced a major health crisis.  That event gave me the confidence and urgency to share that story… but I never continued.

This post marks my effort to go back and post all the videos from that early archive here on the site. It feels like a fresh start. I can’t go back and get rid of the fear of having my voice or my face on camera like this. However, I can hit record today. And this new Alaska Nomad website gives me the opportunity to overcome some fears and insecurities with a bit more courage this time around.

This YouTube short was my very first Alaska Nomad upload. I could film sunsets endlessly from our home’s deck in every season, but winter sunsets over Cook Inlet feel especially magical. I’m still learning, a little nervous, and genuinely excited to begin again in 2026—building content and community slowly, consistently, and together. I anticipate a time when I share a much more whole and reflective origin story.
